Enter key

I am working with students using Excel XP. The ENTER key
is SUPPOSE to send the insertion point to the 1st cell of
the next row. This isn't happening. What are we doing
wrong? HELP.

Have you checked Tools -- Options -- Edit -- Move selection after Enter?

* NB -- only if the active cell is in the first column.

The ENTER key will move you only one cell at a time, either right, left, down
or stay where it is. Options can be changed at Tools>Options>Edit "Move
selection after Enter"

Assumptions made......

Start in A1, enter data, hit TAB key to B1, enter data. TAB your way to say,
H1, entering as you go.

Enter data in H1 then hit <ENTER> key and you will drop to A2.

Using this method, you will go back to the original column you started from
and down one row.
