The 'enter' key (on the standard keyboard) stops working after a few minutes. Somtimes if I reboot, it will work again, but only for a short time. How can I fix this? Thanks...........

Turn off computer - disconnect the keyboard - reconnect the keyboard - turn on the
computer.

If your keyboard stops working try another keyboard. If that one works purchase a
new keyboard.

There have been many posts recently concerning the enter key not working.
Unfortunately, nobody has a definite answer to the problem. It seems to be
related to a recent "hotfix" but, it only effects some machines and not
others. After some discussions in the newsgroups and person to person with a
few tech people, I/we've come to the conclusion that there is a conflict
between the hotfix and some software that is installed. It may be the brand
of keyboard, the AV program you are using or a particular screen-saver, etc.
There is not enough information given by those effected for anyone to be
able to determine a relationship between the computers that are effected.

My machine was not effected and, evidently, none of the MVP's have had a
problem. Otherwise, by now, one of them would have come up with a solution.
There have been people report having done various things that seemed to cure
it on their machine but, they vary so much as to make no answer to the
problem clear.

I realize, this post will not help you but, perhaps it will inspire someone
more knowledgeable than I to investigate the issue a bit more thoroughly and
find an answer to the puzzle.

If you have installed hotfix KB828028, go to Add/Remove Programs and
uninstall it. This has worked for some people.

After uninstalling it, if your keyboard starts working again, re-install it, if you wouldn't mind, and see if the behavior occurs again. We're trying to get a handle on this to give MS as much info as possible.

Thanks for that addition, Doug. I should have added that.
