Hello,

I have just had to check some pps files created a while ago and find
that the mouse click works but pressing the enter key has no effect.

Any idea why?

Cheers

Hello,

I have just had to check some pps files created a while ago and find
that the mouse click works but pressing the enter key has no effect.

I should have added that when changed to a ppt file the enter key does
work. I made no other change - simply changed the extension from .pps
to .ppt.

Cheers

Not sure offhand why changing the PPS to a PPT should make a difference, though
I suppose it might depend on how you did it. But has the presentation been
saved in Kiosk mode? If so, keystrokes won't advance the slides.

Steve,

I simply changed the extension from .ppt to .pps using Windows
Explorer.

When as a .ppt file I see that "presented by a speaker (full screen)"
is selected and not kiosk.

Where now?!

Cheers

Geoff

PS I would be happy to email a pps file to you if you have the
patience to look at it!

Steve,

Sorry! I ought to have added that this happens when the .pps file is
selected from within an html file, eg

<li><a href="balance-sheet\Assets.pps">Assets</a></li>

When simply double clicking on the .pps file using Windows Explorer -
the enter key is active.

Ah, yes. That *can* be a very different animal. Once you involve the browser,
there's a whole new set of complications. Different browsers, versions, browser
settings, even the version of PPT on your system changes things.

Have a look here for starters ... see if the "Aha" light brightens any:

Control how the browser opens PowerPoint files

Thanks for the link! I have read through and don't see any way in
which the pps files can have the enter key working. They are on a CD
and accessed via links in html files and run inside IE.

Except! I have just found that if I run the html files using Firefox
then the enter key does work in the .pps files!

Cheers,

Geoff
