enter key/attachments

I recently downloaded updates from ms and now I have 2
problems I didn't have before. Coincidence? One key, my
enter key periodically stops working. Upon rebooting it's
resolved temporarily. For that reason I assumed it wasn't
the keyboard. I uninstalled my dell quiet key keyboard
and reinstalled it. Still did it. I assume this has to do
with some clitch since I replaced the keyboard and it
still happens.
Unrelated to this I assume is another new issue. I no
longer recieve attachments with my emails. Something
called OE is "removing access to unsafe attachments" I
always received them before. I have no idea which of the
updates might have performed this wonderful service, but
I'd like to find out and uninstall it if possible.

OE is 'Outlook Express', which you are presumably
using as your e-mail client.

Try 'Tools'>'Options'>'Security' Tab and under
'Virus Protection', remove the tick in the box:
'Do not allow attachments .......' - however DO
NOT DO THIS LIGHTLY.

A better solution is to persuade your Senders to use
a compression tool (eg Winzip).

Outlook Express is a 'part' of Internet Explorer, and
you would be better off asking that question in:
'microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress'

Outlook Express removes a number of attachment types
(eg .exe files) for security reasons - you will get more
info in that group.

I've also got the problem with the enter key. It stops
working when I close down a web page and only starts
working again after re-booting. If I close the web page
by Windows Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del) the problem doesnt
occure. It's driving me mad. Can anyone help?

Thanks,Yes, I did exactly as you stated and that resolved
the issue with OE. I'm just curious why it worked for 2
years and then stopped. I don't know what the setting was
prior but assume it was somehow changed when I did an
update. I'll try asking at the internet explorer
newsgroup.
