I have a very hard time reading the screens. I have clicked on the square box to enlarge them but it dosen't do much. The screens in all my folders or programs remaines small. I need larger fonts and screen in order to see them. The magnifyer is of no use to me as it gets on my nerves. Is there any thing I can do?

Try lowering the resolution to 800x600 or 640x480 this will make everything
appear larger on the screen. The settings are in Control
Panel/Display/Settings Tab. Mave the Screen Resolution slider to a lower
setting.

That's a tad drastic, in my view!

Start by opening Control Panel / Display Properties / Appearance - at the
bottom is an option to change the font size. Also, look at settings as the
previous posting - if you're above 1024x768 on a 17" monitor or smaller,
then you need to click the Advanced tab under Settings, and under General
you should see an option to increase the DPI setting to 120 dpi.

Just tinker with the various options till you get one you like.

Not drastic at all considering what the OP is trying to accomplish. The
problem with increasing font sizes is that you end up with dialog boxes that
are too large for the screen and difficult to work with. Lowering the
resolution will enlarge everything proportionally.
