engine error

This is the error I am getting. I need to merge 4 databases into one. HELP!!

The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file ‘C:\……\…\…\Members.
It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to
view its data.

Is the database opened by someone else? If not, then look in the folder for
a file with the same name but an extension of ldb - delete that file, and
try opening the mdb again.

Is the mdb secured?
Do you have the proper windows permissions on the folder where the mdb is?
