Anybody using an Enermax case fan? I want to remove the speed control
knob to put it on the back of the case but it's fastened securely and
I'm afraid of damaging the speed regulator. Is this something to be
concerned about? I can't get a reply from Enermax.

You might link to a good picture and mention whether you
have soldering skills.

No, I haven't done any soldering in the past.

Can't tell anything from the pictures, maybe if you describe
how it's mounted on the fan frame? Do the power leads
coming from the motherboard header go to the (POT?) or
directly to the fan, with separate wires coming out of the
fan then going to the POT?

Sure, it's possible to damage it if you stress it too much
while removing it... though it's hard to tell if it'd be
stressed with any particular removal method without seeing
how it's mounted. A Typical POT has a smooth or threaded
shaft sleeve, which "seems" to extend through the fan
mounting hole. Presuming it's threaded, then there's a nut
that goes around it on the other side of the case wall?

If you can't turn it out of that fan hole, how does it look
like they attached it? If there are values stamped on the
side of the POT, or if you can measure it with a multimeter,
you can then buy another POT if it were to be damaged.
Either way you'll need to do some soldering or crimping
wires to extend it to the alternate mounting location, yes?

Thanks, I got it. the knob just needed to be turned in the center
position. I thought I'd tried everything, but apparently not.
