How do I set the superscript font for all my chapter endnotes? Some of my
endnotes are in a large regular font and some are superscript. When I select
one and go to the styles pane, I get 'endnote reference' in the top selected
box, but with "all styles" selected I do not get an endnote reference style
below that in the part of the pane where I can 'modify' the font to
superscript. Where is this style in the 'all styles' set? thanks, Joe

Use the regular Styles dropdown. Pressing Shift while clicking on the arrow
will force the dropdown to show *all* the styles, and you can then find the
Endnote Reference style and apply it. Alternatively, in the Styles &
Formatting task pane, click Custom, which displays the Format Settings
dialog. Choose "All styles" as the category, find Endnote Reference, and
check the box to make it visible. It will then be listed among the
"Available styles."

Hi, thanks. I did the last part, and it came up in the styles pane as you
indicated, and I went it and modified to superscript, but some of the endnote
numbers (when selected) still read "normal" style?

You have to select the endnote references and actually apply the Endnote
Reference style. An easy way to do this, actually, is with Replace. Search
for ^e (Endnote Mark) and replace with Format: Style: Endnote Reference. If
you do this just in the endnote pane (Normal view) or the endnotes section
(Print Layout view), then you'll be dealing with just the endnotes (and not
the, presumably correct, reference marks in the text).
