I have 2 hdd one of them had the operating
system "windows XP" and the other empty. my operating
system was hit by a virus and would not work any more, so
i installed the OS on the other hard disk and cleaned the
first one, but i encountered a problem with one of the
folders that i encrypted using the older OS when trying
to copy it to the new hard disk or trying to open it i
get access denied. i have a copy of the old regisry would
that help ? is there any way i can get my data back from
that folder.

If you do not have the encryption keys for the original user account,
or the recovery agent, the files cannot be recovered.

If the original account no longer exists then the encryption keys also no
longer exist. Unless a recovery agent was designated by the user the file
is a write off. EFS is very good at what it does and there are no back
doors.
