Encoding Problem: Right Codec?

I want to make a dvd on Windows DVD Maker that includes pictures (jpeg),
video (AVI) and audio (WMA). My problem is that it all works fine until it
stops encoding when it reaches 8.6%. An error message then comes up saying to
'make sure you have the necessary codec' etc. Has this happened to anyone
else and do they know how to sort it out? (Sorry, but I don't really
understand all the technical stuff, so I know this explanation is pretty
basic).

Help would be much appreciated.

I have been trying to make DVDs as well. I combined about 13 video clips in
Movie Maker, then I published the movie. Then, I went to DVD Maker and tried
to make a DVD. The movie is 1 hour long. I started at 5 p.m. with the
Encoding and it is now 11:30 p.m. and it is stuck at 80%. This has happened
to me before.

The last time it happened, I finally got tired of waiting and cancel the
burn. I got a message saying that the DVD would probably not play. Well, it
did play in my DVD player attached to my television. I am getting very
frustrated with situation too. I hesitate to stop using Windows DVD Maker
because I like the menu options but I think it is unreasonably slow and
should not sit at 80% for example for hours.

Is there anyone who knows if there is a problem with this program. I agree
with Francie, there must be a bug in this problem and where do we go for
help? Thanks.
