encoding options

Folks,

After re-installing my OS (XP Pro), IE is displaying strange & screwy fonts
depending on where you go.

On this page, for instance, the font is large. Reading posted questions shows
huge fonts.

I posted last week and tried the responses, but still having issues.

I have tried under "View/Text" size changing to "smallest". Some web pages
work, some don't.

Under View/Encoding Auto-Select has been both turned on and off with little
results. It was recomended to set Auto-Select off and turn UTF-8 on, but
this seems to change from web site to web site. Meaning I see it set to
Western ISO, Western European, etc.

All my "accessability" options are unchecked. I re-checked the registry and
found the codes were still set to "1", so I manually reset them to "0" to
hopefully display web pages as people programmed them.

I ran "sfc /scannow" per MS KB article 318378 and nothing turned up. By
that, I mean the process/program ran and I never got any message saying it
found any errors.

Any ideas ? This all came about after re-installing my OS due to SBS 2003
installed security network software on this client that locked me out of
doing anything. I had to re-install the OS to get this client back to working
order.

Any more things to look at ? Seem to see many issues with this and nothing
has solved my problem.

Everyone/Anyone that reads this.....I found out the problem digging thru
other posts.

per "Jan", I also had "high contrast" checked on the Accesabilty screen.

So far, this was it.........we're back to normal sizes and fonts !
