Hello,

I just installed Windows SP2 and now my speakers are disabled. Can anyone
tell me how to enable them as well as to get rid of the beeps from the
internal speaker?

Thank you and God Bless,

Mark A. Sam

The fact it's beeping to the system speaker reflects that the sound card
drivers have been deleted or disabled. Press the Windows key and Pause
together and click Device Manager tab and Click Device Manager. Check to
make sure the sound card is not disabled or else any errors.

Russ,

Thanks for the reply. I followed your instructions and saw nothing that was
disabled.

In the Sound, Video and Game Contoller properties box, there is nothing
listed, and any dialog pertaining to Sound that I have looked at have all
buttons disabled. Does this mean the drivers aren't installed, and how do I
install them?

Thanks for any further help.

So there is nothing in the SVG controllers drop-down list? Not even any
Codec listings? And there are definitely no Unknown hardware in the list? It
seems as though there is no sound card in the PC or it's disabled in the
BIOS if it's onboard sound. Reenabled the sound card in the BIOS, or
reinstall the sound card into the PC. I've never heard of this as a SP2
issue so I'm going to say it's a hardware problem somewhere.

Good luck mate

Assuming you have a sound card that is built into the motherboard then
you should find the drivers on the CD that came with your motherboard
(along with drivers for a number of other components). Place the CD
into the drive and install all the required drivers.

If you have a stand alone sound card then the drivers for that will be
on the CD that came with the sound card. Install them.

If you do not have the relevant CDs then you should be able to get the
required drivers from the motherboard or sound card manufacturers web
site. Make sure you get the correct ones for your sound card or
motherboard.

When I boot up I get this error:

svchost.exe application error

The instruction at "0x7c919935" referenced memory at "0xf4eaffff". The memory could not be read,
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program

Could this be the the problem?
