Somehow the cookies on my computer got "deleted". The
files still show up in the Documents and Settings, but I
keep getting requests to activate them and I don't know
how. Can anybody help? I have Window XP Professional,
the 2002 edition. I just did updates last night.

Well to begin with my cookies are deleted every single day. All that they do
is enable any web site you visit to keep a track of what pages you have
visited. Even if you delete them, the next time you visit a web site a new
cookies is added.
What i am not sure of is your comment 'i keep getting requests to activate
them' I'm not too sure what you mean here. Maybe the actaul text of the
request may have been useful.
One thing i am thinking of is that not all sites can deposit cookies on your
machine, consequently the 'request' so to speak is asking you to adjust your
cookies control so that the sites that cannot insert a cookie can. This is a
guess.
What i suggest you try is this:

1/ Click Start button
2/ On the Start menu click Control Panel
3/ In the Control Panel Window click the Internet Options icon
4/ When the internet properties window opens clcik the Provacy tab.
5/ You will see a slider in this window
6/ Pull the slider right down to the very bottom
7/ You should now see the legend 'Accept All Cookies'
8/ Click Apply
9/ Now click Ok to exit

See if this solves the problem.

Never be afraid to delete cookies, if your pc needs them to access a web
site, the web site will add one for you.

Hope this helps
