Dear Microsoft:

I am trying to enable Internet Connection Firewall on my
Windows XP. I am following the instructions found on
microsoft.com/security; however, under the Advanced Tab
there is no "Internet Connection Firewall" listed.
Rather, only the following appear: Operator-Assited Dial
Up, Dial Up Preferences, Newtwork Id, Bridge Connection,
Advanced Settings, Optional Network Comp. Please let me
know what I should do. Under Diap-up I hit that one
because I use AOL but it said it was disconnected yet I
still get on line. I am really confused.

AOL did not make their software and connections
compatible with the built-in Internet Connection
Firewall. You need to install another firewall program
such as Zone Alarm.

if you are connecting any other way than dial up you
should have in your network connections another listing.
aol also has the mcafee personal firewall for aol that is
free for d/l to aol users try that.

Greetings --

You'll need to find a 3rd party firewall that is compatible with
AOL.

AOL has deliberately made their software incompatible with WinXP's
firewall. AOL's proprietary connection applet is deliberately
designed to preclude your setting/adjusting any of its properties, to
include enabling/disabling WinXP's firewall, which is
connection-specific.
