Where do I go in XP to check if the DMA check box is
enabled for my cd-rom device? Please tell me step by step
so I don't get lost.

Right click on My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device manager > IDE
ATA/ATAPI Controllers > right click Primary IDE Channel > Properties > make
sure autoselect DMA has been selected. If it hasn't, then select it and
you'll need to re-boot for the new attributes to take effect.

Do the same for the Secondary IDE Channel.

If for some reason everything is greyed out, you need to go into the BIOS to
turn on the DMA access and the way you do it depends on your BIOS make.

Cheers,
Jerry
