Dumb David!

I want to log onto Yahoo.com but Yahoo replies my browser does not accept
cookies. How do I enable them? I have found a program on my CPU (Analogue)
which has a list of cookies from sites I have been to, but does not contain
Yahoo.com. Analogue has three sections, the centre one has all the cookie
sites I have been to B4, but need to be accepted or blocked by transferring
them into either the left or right column. But what I need to know is how to
get the first cookie if they (Yahoo) says my CPU is not enabled to accept
cookies? TIA

I can't test this hypothesis with Internet Explorer 6. Consequently,
the following comments relate to Internet Explorer 7. However, they may
also work with IE6.

Firstly, check your cookie settings in Internet Explorer.

Open IE and click on Tools | Internet Options | Privacy. The default
privacy setting for the Internet zone is "Medium". However, I use the
following settings (via the Advanced tab), which seem to work for me.

Override automatic cookie handling
Accept first part cookies
Prompt for third party cookies (and I reject most third party cookies)
Always allow session cookies.

The privacy page also allows you to click on "Sites", which lists the
cookies that you have previously decided to allow or block. You may
find that Yahoo is on the blocked list. If so, change it to "always
allow".

If you can't identify which settings are blocking access to pages at
Yahoo.com, navigate to www.yahoo.com (or one of the other problem
pages). At the bottom of the page, you should see a small icon that
resembles an eye, with a red circle and a red cross through the circle.

Double click on this icon. A pop-up window will list all cookies that
have been blocked.

Right click on the name of each individual cookie, if you want to change
the privacy settings for that cookie.

Thanks for your assistance, Bob. It did the trick, even though I was cautious
about going into the "advanced" area. Perfect. Not-so-dumb now-David.

Your welcome. I'm glad it worked.
