Hello,
I have done several searches on how to enable the active desktop. I
found previous posts in this group, so I decided to join to see if I
could get help.
From the one post, I followed what it said:

If you have XP Home...

I saved the file, double clicked on it, restarted, etc. Still no luck.

I have the web tab but I accidentally deleted the "my current homepage"
or whatever was originally there by windows. All I am trying to do is
have a cute little ticker show on my desktop. I know it's possible to
do, but I am not having any luck.

Please help if you can. Thank you so much!

Read the instructions at the top.
285. Right hand side
Restore All Display Tabs - Remove All Display Tabs & Icon
Click on Restore All Display Tabs.
restorealldisplaytabs.reg is the file that you want.

To add Web content to your desktop
1. Right-click a blank area on the desktop, and then click Properties.
2. On the Desktop tab, click Customize Desktop.
3. On the Web tab, click New, and then follow the instructions on your
screen.

Notes
* You must be connected to the Internet to add active Web content to your
desktop.
* To browse Microsoft's Desktop Gallery Web site, in the New Desktop Item
Wizard, click Visit Gallery. The New Desktop Item Wizard opens when you
click New on the Web tab.
* To select a different Web site, type the Web site address, or click Browse
to locate it.
