Enableing MPEG2 Codecs for use with mplay32.exe

I have been working on a laptop that has just had XP Pro reinstalled. This
machine is used to make PPT(2003) presentations with a mixture of JPEGs and
MPEGS embedded. The MPEGS are MPEG2s. I downloaded the InterVideo support
for "DVD MPEGS" and these now play on the WMP but will not play under the
mplay32.exe application. There are 4 other machines that will play this
stuff under the mplay32 and thus PPTand I am at a loss on how to get this
laptop configured to do the same. I have looked at the tutorial, I have
looked at the MCI extensions and made modifications to the Reg to look
exactly like a machine that runs it and of course it does not work!
Configuring this stuff should not be this complicated. How do I enable the
codec that is making the WMP work, work for mplay32.exe.

Thanks in advance

I have tried to get the nemo pack and it no longer exists. The video is
captured from an DV camcorder and is used for medical presentations. I have
used Video Tool box to look at what the codec is for the mpeg and is says it
is 720x480 mpeg2. It plays fine on almost everything else I have access to.
I cannot get the mplay32.exe to play on the laptop.

Thanks

Ooo, I'm sorry to hear about the Nimo Pack! See if the tip at
http://www.soniacoleman.com/FAQs/FAQ00156.htm helps you determine the codec. I
suspect that the camera manufacturer is using a codec that gets installed with
some software you have, but doesn't get installed at the Windows level so that
mplay32.exe and PowerPoint can find/use it.

I did a bad thing. I installed Premiere on the laptop and since the license
was not valid on the laptop I uninstalled it. It left behind a codec that
the mplay32.exe could use to play the clips. This is a twisted solution.
This is a poor solution and should not have been so difficult. In the long
term it will not be bad because I am recommending that Premiere be installed
on the machine.

Thanks for your help.
