I cannot enable internet firewall in WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL as described in help and support. When I click "change settings" nothing happens;the advanced tab under "internet connections"does not allow me to enable firewall. Any suggestions? Or is the firewall already on? I was told by DELL that I do not have a firewall in this program;is this true ?

Duckman ... are you saying that the option to enable firewall (ICF) is
grayed out in the 'Advanced' tab of Internet Connection Properties? Not
sure from your post just what you're seeing, so try this first:
HOW TO: Enable or Disable Internet Connection Firewall in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q283673

Check Control Panel, Network Connections, and see if there's a little gold
'lock' on your Internet Connection icon... that tells you the ICF is
enabled.

I'm not entirely sure about the Dell OEM of XP Pro, but you should have
ICF capability. Post back if the above link doesn't help.

After checking "network connections" followed by "network tasks" I find my dialup connection shows disconnected but is highlghted in gray.I have consulted "Help and Support".
