Enable file sharing

The simple answer is you can not share a file without
shutting off simple file sharing. You can only use the
shared folder that is already set up in simple file
sharing. If you go to the tools menu in any explorer
window you can go to advanced and then scroll down to the
bottom of the list and you will see a box that is checked
that says use simple file sharing(recomended) by who this
is recomended I have no idea. If you uncheck this box you
will not have any of the samantics involved in file sharing
and it will be very straight forward in the configuration.

What? Of course you can share files using simple file sharing.

Then Network Setup Wizard automatically creates a shared folder called
"Shared Documents", but you don't have to use it. You can share any
other folder on the disk, with these exceptions: Windows, Documents
and Settings, Program Files. You can share sub-folders within those
folders.

Microsoft recommends simple file sharing because the alternative, if
you disable simple file sharing, requires knowledge of user accounts
and NTFS file permissions.
