I have been using active directory users and groups to
add a policies to user not allowing the to do any
browsing of the network. However when the use ms word or
other office type program they get the side bar that
allows them to go into my network places and view the
entire network. This is the only way they can doit. from
anywhere else it does not work. It tells them that it is
denied.
I enabled classic shell and if i log in at the server it
works but if i log in at a windows 2000 pro client it
does not work.

Any imediate help would be nice. this is at a high school
and some kids are beginning to figure this out and
deleting or copying other students work.

Thank you,
Chris Lambert

Haven't tried yet, but, have you looked into Office adm templates. they are
part of office resource kit. Maybe there is a setting to prevent specific
sidebar in office.
