Hi, can someone please tell me the steps to turn on
automatic Windows update. The expert zone seems to tell
you how before you install and the knowledge base has
been useless for me. I'm sure it is because I do not
know how to type in the question in computer language,
but I'll save the complaint for the survey!!!

In advance thank you.

PS I am obviously a novice so please write to me like I
am in Kindergarten and assume I know nothing.

These instructions may be a little more general than you may need since
different systems may have the locations slightly changed. Go to your
Control Panel (usually found by clicking Start). Open up the System icon and
go to the "Automatic Updates" tab. There you will find a selection for you
to turn on the updates and to configure them as you like. I have mine off,
and the service disabled, and the look of my start menu has been changed
since the default, but this should give you enough info to get there.

Often times the help feature of Windows can give you good directions as
well, and even a link to the proper place to change your settings. Have you
done a look-see there?

Joe,

If Kay's instructions don't work for you, go to Start, Run and enter
SERVICES.MSC Locate the Automatic Updates Service and double click it.
Make sure its set to Started and Automatic. Reboot the computer and all
should be well.
