This setting does not work:

Tools - Options - Advanced - Empty Temporary Internet
folder when browser is closed

I am using Windows XP Home Edition with IE6 updated with
the latest and greatest version. I have another computer
where it is working fine. Has anyone heard of this
problem?

Anon,
Open Regedit and verify the following exists and is the correct value:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings\Cache]
"Persistent"=dword:00000000

Note: always Export before editing .....

I have verified that the key you show below is being set
properly.

One thought I had is that maybe IE doesn't really get
closed when I think it does. But then I would think
during a shut down it would close and delete the files,
but it does not. I also wonder if the virus protection
software is interfering, but I disabled that and it still
doesn't work (I still see temp internet files in my
folder).
