empty fields in subform display #Name?

I have a subform whose recordsource is set through code to display a crosstab
query. The where criteria for the sql is a string built by a multiselect
listbox.

Row Headings are Item, Region, Mode
Column Headings is Year

If no data exists for a specific combination of item, region, mode in one
year, the subform displays #Name?. Is it possible to limit the year columns
to those with data present, or do i have to replace the error messsage with a
'0', as in the example on mvps.org???

Preferably, I would like to hide the empy fields....

Option one could work but would still display year column, no?
Yes, that is what you want is it not?
