I'm trying to create an ERD for my Windows 2000 Professional machine.
I was going to install Service Pack 4 and wanted to make sure I had
the ERD before proceeding.

I go to Backup and choose the option to create an ERD. I have a
formatted 1.44 floppy in the drive. The drive light comes on and I get
this error:

The operation failed. The disk file was not found or was inaccessible.

Any idea what disk file was not found and how I can create the ERD?

Thanks.

Thanks for pointing me to the directory I should be looking for. No,
on my machine I only have a Windows subdirectory.

Anything I can do about that?

Substitute WINDOWS for WINNT. If your system directory is WINDOWS then you would have upgraded from 9x and doing that creates alot
of problems for alot of people. How's the floppy drive work normally?

I'm going through Programs/Accessories/Backup. If I click on Backup,
a dialog comes up instructing me to put in a blank disk in A:. So, I'm
not sure what you mean by "substitute Windows for WINNT".

I had a crash some time back. The machine in question came loaded with
Win 2000 Pro, without a copy of the operating system on CD. So, I had
to use my copy from my MSDN subscription. That meant I needed to
install Win98 first, then upgrade.

The floppy drive is working fine.
