emergency repair disk from CD

Isn't there some way in win2000 to make an emergency repair disk (or
bootable CD) with my CD burner alone.
That is- without floppy disk or drive
 
No, the ERD repair process will only accept files on a floppy diskette.
As for the bootable CD, you can create a Bart's PE disk (with a
Windows XP cd) or download the UBCD4Win version of the PE disk and use
it to do repairs on Windows 2000 installations.

I guess what I was asking to do was install all my current system files onto
a cd.

What you're saying is that I use the win2000 disk repair console to find my
backed up system files on the hard drive ? Sorry to be so dense, Is that the
procedure ?

The repair console is limited.

to make a backup...you can clone your drive using a utility such as Acronis
