I thought I lost my hard drive, but initial diagnostics
indicate that all hardware is ok. When I turn the
machine on, all I get is the XP logo screen without
showing the number of tasks running. any ideas how to
create a bootable cd-rom or diskette?
Thanks.

The Windows XP installation CD is also a "startup disk"
and contains the tools necessary to perform repairs.

A startup floppy can be created to boot you directly to your desktop. For
further information on how to create one visit my web site
