If I embed a .wav file into aPowerpoint .pps presentation (so I can e-mail
it), how do I prevent the person's media player from opening up over the pps
presentation when they're in slide show mode? Basically, I want music to
play when they open up the presentation and can't figure out how to make it
work.

I embedded the .wav file as an object. In animation I told it to open the
object. That's when it opens the audio files and brings up Windows Media
Player.
I just downoaded PFCMedia. I'm going to try that.

Ah. Then don't do that. Use Insert, Sounds 'n Movies, Sound from File instead.
Be sure to set Tools, Options, General tab, Link Sounds with File Size greater
than ... to some humongo value first.

That's another good thing to try, just on general principles.
