Hello,

I'd like to embed a mpeg file as part of the presentation not a file to
be attached with the presentation. I have PowerPoint 2007. How can I do
that? Thank you.

Athena

PS. So I will have just a ppt file with video file in it, not a separate
file.

You can't, all video is linked in PowerPoint. Sorry...

Hello Aaustin,

Shame on MS. So how can I be sure that the linked video file will run
when I mail the presentation and the video to somebody?

Directly embed a video file in MS PowerPoint is impossible. But you can embed
Flash movie in PowerPoint, so you may try to convert your MPEG file to Flash
format and embed the Flash in PowerPoint. About "Embed Flash into PowerPoint
2007", read my article at
http://www.sameshow.com/other/insert-flash-into-powerpoint-2007.html

If you don't like to do as above, in order to insure the linked video is
available when email a presentation to others, you'd better put the video
file and ppt file in same folder and then insert the video to ppt, finally
zip the folder as a package using WinZip or 7z. You just need to email the
package file.

Thank you William. I will follow your suggestions. Do you know a free video
to flash converter? Thank you.

Actually I ever tried some free and commercial video to Flash converters, but
most of the output Flash files are in low quality. So I have no idea of a
good converter to recommend for you.

If you'd like to embed video into PowerPoint as a Flash presentation, you may
view a sample of video presentation in Flash at
http://www.sameshow.com/powerpoint-to-flash/samples-video.html. That's kind
of a solution of PowerPoint to Flash with multimedia.

Hello William,

I tried your suggestion to embed a flash to my presentation. Thank you.
But each time I need to set the Player property to True, since it resets it.
This problem seems to be common:

"Note: we've recently discovered that if the flash movie is scripted to stop
playing rather than loop or repeat then this command appears to be passed to
PowerPoint - this results in the play command being reset to false. The
simple solution (if you've got the source flash file) is to remove the
offending command, alternatively you'll have to save the presentation with
play set to true and not run it again until ready to present - it'll only
run once and will need resetting before it'll work again!"

Any workaround?

Thank you,

Athena
