I am trying to embed a movie such that when saving the
presentation the movie is saved as part of the file. iI
want to be able to email or ftp a single file that has my
entire presentation, including all movies.

This used to be the default capability in Office97 and
Office 2000 but not in Office2002. With Office2002, only
the first frame of the movie is saved.

My OS is XP Pro.

Thanks
Kosala

Movie files are (and have always been) linked, not embedded. Most of the
confusion seems to come from the word 'insert' on the menu bar.

You may benefit from reading this FAQ. It will explain how to get the two
to stay together.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

PowerPoint does not include the ability to embed (not link) multimedia
formats other than *.WAV audio files.

There are a variety of workarounds to make your presentations with linked
content more portable including saving the presentation in MHTML format
(single file web page).

Of course, If you (or anyone else reading this message) feel strongly that
the option to embed other kinds of multimedia or other alternatives for
creating single-file distributions of presentations and all their
supporting content, should be features in PowerPoint, don't forget to send
your suggestion (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
