I got a new computer that has Office 2003. Previously I was using the vesion just under this. Now when I go to use the briefings I created in the previous version I get a message that the presentation can not be edited because of embedded fonts.

Is there any way to rectify this problem - maybe extracting the embedded fonts and/or changing them. I don't relish the thought of having to do them all over again

Any help

This may help

I feel your pain. Due to some #@?!#! decision by someone, PowerPoint 2003
won't let you do anything at all to a file with embedded fonts. Your two
choices are to install the fonts on your new computer, or open the file in
PowerPoint 2002 and then save it *without* embedding the fonts.

Hearing this kind of thing makes me wonder if it's
really a good idea to upgrade to PPT 2003 at all...
glad I stuck with 2002 for the time being.

Not quite *that* dire, is it?

I understood that was the ((*#&$@(*& FLAMING IDJIT) case with fonts that
weren't edit-embed enabled, but for those that are, there should be no
problems.

Not that that helps in this particular situation, as the fonts in question are
clearly not-edit-embed enabled.

Hmmmm. I wonder how MSLawyer would react to the assertion that in refusing to
allow me to edit what might after all be my own work, it's participating in a
form of intellectual property theft? Hmmm.

I guess I got overly pained/zealous. Yes, I should have said "embedded
fonts that are only print/preview embeddable".

Most of them, in other words.
So *nearly* as dire.
O the pain.
