I have an HP 895cse which works flawlessly under Win98
and ME, but operates at about one-tenth its normal speed
under XP. The original drivers were not included in any
Windows OS; one had to load them separately. XP appears
to have a generic driver for the 895cxi which barely
works for my model. There are no updates available from
HP. Can anyone suggest a workaround?

If you first installed the original printer driver, it should be
completely uninstalled before you try the embedded driver. Use Cari's
site for instructions on desinstalling the driver completely:
http://www.coribright.com/Windows/ The embedded printer was HP's
development for WinXP. If there is no "full" driver on HP's support
site, and you are not satisfied with the embedded printer, properly
installed, then you are in the market for an new XP compatible printer.
