Hm. I assume, then, you're using Acrobat 8 -- the full version (Acrobat
Professional), not the Adobe Reader? (I don't think the reader has a
snapshot tool.)
What do you see instead of the image?
For what it's worth, I can't reproduce the problem here. But I'm also using
Acrobat Professional 7.0, not 8.0. Here are the steps I used:
I opened a new, blank file in PPT 2007
opened an existing PDF in Acrobat Pro 7
set Acrobat so I could see the entire page of a document (about a 50% zoom)
used the snapshot tool to capture about half the page
right-clicked and Paste on the PPT slide.
Then I chose Office Button | Save As and selected PPT 97-2003 Presentation
in the "save as type" dropdown.
The image is there when I open the file in PPT 2003 on a different computer.
I would make sure the PPT 2003 machine has at least Service Pack 1 for
Office 2003 installed. This SP resolved the "missing pictures" issue that
occurred with PowerPoint 2003 directly out of the box. You can install SP2
or SP3, as they include SP1. To get the SP, open PPT and go to Help | Check
for Updates.

What I am referring to would be to take a picture or chart from a
document
saved with Adobe Acrobat Prof 8 and insert it as a picture into a slide
made
with PP 2007

Could you clarify what you mean by an "Adobe 8 document"? How exactly
are
you inserting the pictures?

When I make a powerpoint slide with an embedded picture from an
Adobe 8
document, saved in compatibility mode on a memory stick the slide
will
be
readable on a computer running the older version of powerpoint but
the
adobe
image is not there. How can this be fixed, it makes the interchange
of
files
a real challenge.
Thanks
