Embed an Excel Spreadsheet in Word Document

I have created a Gantt Chart with Excel. I would like to embed that
spreadsheet in Word for a report. I have used "Paste Special" --> "MS Excel
Object"

However, there is 2 problems
1) Part of the Excel Spreadsheet is not shown in Word (Even though I have
chosen A3 as paper size for the Word Document).
2) Is it possible to paste in such a way that the gridlines are shown ?

Your advice is sought.

Embedded objects cannot span multiple pages so if the chart is larger than
the paper size then unfortunately you'll have to resize the chart to make it
work.

I'm not sure what you mean about "paste in such a way the gridlines are
shown". If the gridlines are turned on for the Excel worksheet then they
should display however they will not print unless in the Excel workbook, in
Page Setup, you have Gridlines selected on the Layout tab. Is this what you
were asking?

I think that in Off 2007, in Excel you need to check the Print Gridlines
option on the Page Layout tab: then when you copy into Word the WS Grids
will come across formatted with viewable borders.

Many thanks for your advice.

The Excel Spreadsheet is indeed larger than 1 page. In Excel, I can easily
get it printed by changing the ratio. To resize the chart - Does it mean
that to resize the chart in Excel so that it doesn't span multiple pages ?

Re the second question, it is exactly as what Terry suggests, when I print
with gridline, I get the gridline background with some of the lines filled
(by me). It is what I want to show in the Word Document.

I have tried Terry's suggestion, to set "Print Gridline" in Excel 2000 but
when I paste special (embed Excel), the gridline is still not shown. Is
there any suggestion.

Just a thought, then I'll butt out:)

Excel's gridlines are thin and gray, so in an embedded object they often
aren't visible unless you increase your zoom setting to something over 100%
- this can vary with display resolution. Sometimes _some_ gridlines display
& others don't. Do the lines _print_ when you print the doc?

Yes, you also need to resize the chart so it doesn't span more than one page
in Word.

For your gridlines, the printing options are not the same as viewing
options. When you embed an Excel workbook, what you see in the Word document
and Print Preview, is not the same as what you see when you actually print
the document. If you want to see the gridlines in both the printed copy and
document view, you need the gridlines turned on for printing, as Terry
suggested, but for viewing in the Excel workbook in the Word document, go to
Tools/Options/General and turn on Gridlines.
