I have recently bought Norton Anti Virus and installed it onto my pc...this is
where the problem starts. My emails now seem to stop after a very short period
of time and i get this error message. i'm using OE

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.
Account: 'pop3.lineone.net', Server: 'pop3.lineone.net', Protocol: POP3, Server
Response: '+OK 473 bytes', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

I have searched the Norton advice sections which tell me to remove my OE from
the programs in my personal fire wall and let Norton reconfigure it for
itself...... this is not working and now i am going crazy...

Help..... I have recieved 30 copies of the same 454 emails and not the rest of
the 1300, this is really doing my head in...

Many thanks in advance

Tracey

Do you have web-based access to the mail? Go there and look at the
455th mail. See if it is a funky spam, with a malformed header. Delete
it there. Might as well delete the first 454 as well.

This is apparently a problem with a recent update to OE. It doesn't
know how to deal with such a mail. I know subscribers at att.net (one
of my isps) constantly complain, with the exact same problem.

The general consensus is that spammers are looking for the absence of
bounce messages, or some spammers' software is verschtunken.

It could be that when OE hits and try's to download an email to the machine,
it is timing out. The email may have a lot of data and since Norton is
scanning the email, there may not be enough time for the download of the
email to the Inbox.

You may want to adjust OE's *Server Timeout* to its MAX setting to see if
that is the problem with OE.

OE menu Accounts/select the account/properties/advanced and slide the
*Server Timeout* control to its MAX setting.

Duane :)
