Emails Re-appear

I am using Windows XP and Office XP with Outlook. I
delete emails I have read and then they re-appear for
some unknown reason.

Why is this going on and how do I stop it?

If you're using POP mail, do you have your Internet Mail account set to
'leave a copy of messages on server' ? If so, and if it isn't needed, take
it off.
 
I have the same darn problem. I need to leave copies on
my server when I am out of the office. The following ms

I just attempted the suggested solution but it will take
a few "log ons" before I know if it worked. I have yet
to completely detect a pattern as to when the problem
happens. I have my accounts to delete the mail from the
server when I empty the deleted items folder. As near as
I can tell that seems to get rid of them but I cannot do
that for e-mails that I want to save for later action at
the office.
