I created a powerpoint presentation for the first time using microsoft office
(trial) . I then downloaded it to a F: key drive. At my interview today it
wouldn't open on their computer?
I emailed it to them and they cannot download it?

Which version are you using, which version are they using?

My guess: you've got the 2007 trial and they're using an older version, which
can't open 2007's files.

Reopen your presentation, save it as a 97-2003 format file ... with luck,
that'll sort it out.

I think that is it!!! I guess I just figured that a government agency would
be updated, guess not.

Thanks much

I just figured that a government agency would be updated,
you're kidding right ! :)

In defense: I work for the beautiful state of Washington's park department
(come visit us!). We're running XP era stuff on hundreds of machines
scattered in over 140 locations around the state, all coordinated by a small
core of hardworking info management staff. We turn out great product, and
simply can't keep on the curve of each latest update, much of which really
wouldn't see that much use.

One hard earned lesson is to always communicate with your end user first, to
see what they have and can handle. And if you're invited to make a
presentation at another location, take your own gear, and know how to set it
up quickly. I've sat through more than one presentation full of "If the
program was working, I could show you. . ."

Welcome to PowerPoint, but remember, it's just another way to produce a
show. Snappy graphics and animations won't replace good basic communication
skills. Good luck!
