Hello,

I'm using Outlook 2002 and would like to email one of my distribution lists
so that the first name of the Contact appears as the salutation. For
example - Dear Fred, Dear Lucy etc.

All the names are in "Contacts" rather than the "Outlook Address Book".

I would have thought this is a pretty common thing for users to want to do,
but I haven't been able to work it out.

If anyone could help with this, I'd be extremely grateful.

Thanks and best wishes,

Kevin

The Contacts is an Outlook Address Book.
You can use Mail Merge for this from within Word;
Tools-> Letters and Mailings

Hi Roady,

Thanks for this info, it has certainly got me onto the right road.

Can the email-merge in Word recognize existing Distribution lists in
Contacts? I look ed for a way of doing this, but couldn't see it.

TIA, your reply has been really helpful.

Kevin

You're welcome! :-)

No, you can't do this for existing distributionlists. The whole purpose of
it to personalize the messages so you can only select individual contacts.
