Hi Hope I am in the right place for assistance. I have recently had a lot
of problems with Norton. Now when I open outlook I get the following message:
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Account: 'pop.supanet.com', Server: 'pop.supanet.com', Protocol:
POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

The connection hasnt in fact terminated. Just before I was getting this
message my emails were coming in duplicated. I have switched off incoming
and outgoing scanning on Norton.
Please help!
thanks

The retail version of Norton can play havoc with your pc.
Uninstall it by using Norton's own uninstall tool.

I have switched off incoming and outgoing scanning on Norton.

For your information.
Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer
of protection that eats up CPUs and causes a multitude of problems such as
time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A/V program will
continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see:

Is my computer still protected against viruses if I disable Email Scanning?

Avira AntiVir® PersonalEdition Classic is one of the better AV applications.

Another to try is while on Outlook Express:
Click Tools >> Options >. Click on Connections Tab and make sure these
settings correct:
Dial-Up
[ ] Ask before switching dial-up connections

Click on Settings for the connection and make sure the correct connection
(Default ) is selected .

again Click Tools >> Accounts >> Click on Servers Tab and make sure this
option not selected:
[ ] log on using Secure Password Authentication.

Click on Connection Tab and check this check box:
[ ] Always connect to this account using:
[ Local Area Network ][v]

Click [OK] to close and open a Run Command and type these command:
ipconfig /flushdns click [OK]
ipconfig /renew click [OK]
netsh winsock reset click [OK]
Reboot your machine and see.
How the Power saving Option on this machine set to and does the Dial on
Demand on the Router option checked or not, best if uncheck it.

I will make sure this machine is clean from Viruses by scanning from
another vendor to get another opinion.
HTH.

Hi Hope I am in the right place for assistance.

You would probably do much better if you posted in an Outlook
newsgroup (or an Outlook Express one, if Outlook Express is what you
really meant).
