I cannot open some emails. Lately when I try to open some email I get a
message "file does not have a program associated with it for performing this
action and I can't open it.

Please go to this link to see what kind of details you should include in
your newsgroup post:

http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm

Then come back with all pertinent information and someone will help you.
Some examples of needed information are:

1. What changed between the time things worked and the time they didn't?
2. What service pack level is your XP?
3. Is the machine a home machine - either standalone or in a Workgroup -
or a member of a domain?
4. What email program are you using?
5. How do you connect to the Internet?
6. What does "open some email" mean?

A suggestion for Question 6 above
The OP might be referring to attachments on an email, of a file type for
which the OP doesn't have the correct application eg PSD - photoshop file,
and can't open the file. If it is just a normal email then I can't suggest
anything more since these should just open within the email client software.

I would bet that you're right, but we can't be sure until the OP answers
Malke's questions, particularly number 6.
