email won't accept pdf files

I have a 6-week old computer with Outlook Express 6.00.
When someone emails me a pdf file, I can see that it has
been received, but the lettering is light grey instead of
black, so I can't open the document or save it. Could
someone tell me how to get around this problem? (I don't
have any problem downloading a pdf file off the internet.)

This was done due to the large number of worms and viruses that spread through email
attachments that often appear to come from trusted sources such as friends and
family. See the KB links below on how to change this setting but please, only after
you have an antivirus program in place that scans all emails and is able to keep
itself current as far as virus definitions such as Norton. --- Steve
