email window

When I compose my email in Outlook 2003, the window
always maximizes. Is there an to make it default to a
minimized window?

When it opens, click the middle button in the upper right so that it shows a
single window image and not two windows. Then drag the borders to the size
you want. Compose your message and click Send. The next time, the compose
window should be the size you made it. I haven't tried this myself, but
that's generally how windows work.
