email using windowsmail

am i supposed to get an email address from windows or microsoft so that i
can use windows mail? I am concerned because all of my email addresses are
not valid to use on this type of server...please advise...
 
Oops, I meant you can use your @hotmail.com email account
if you upgrade to Windows Live Mail.
