email stuck in Outbox

When I try to send email from Office 2007 it goes straight to my outbox. I
deleted all of the outbox files (including a very large one) but it doesn't
help. cannot send using Tools - Send and REceive. I am using outlook
connector to connect to my hotmail account. Could this be the problem.

Subject says "e-mail stuck in Outbox". Yet you claim in the body of
your post that "deleted all of the Outbox files". So which is it? If
the second then how is the first possible?
 
I deleted all of the outbox files. then when I go to send a new email it
immediately goes to the outbox folder.
