Email send/receive problems

I have recently installed Outlook 2003. I imported my
Outlook 2002 file into a new 2003 file. All worked fine.

I then installed Earthlink as a dial-up ISP for when I
travel. At this point, I began having trouble sending
and receiving.

It appears to me that Outlook does not recognize that I
have accounts set up. The Send/Receive Group (All
Accounts) does not show any accounts. When I compose an
email and then try to change the account there are no
accounts to choose from (I have 5 accounts). In fact,
when Outlook starts (at my inbox) the Send/Receive button
disappears from my menu options and F9 does not work.

I have deleted all accounts and re-entered them without
success. In fact, when I'm in the Account Change field
and I submit a 'test account settings' request the
Outgoing email fails.

Any ideas??

Did you do an upgrade? Try recreating (do not copy) your mail profile in
Control Panel-> Mail-> button Show Profiles. Note that removing and adding
accounts isn't the same as recreating the profile completely.

find and rename the *.srs file for your profile. if this doesn't help, do a
detect and repair - the EarthLink software probably messed it up. (I
installed it once and will never make that mistake again. <g>)

try using the EarthLink SMTP server for the outgoing server for each
account - EarthLink requires all mail sent using the dialup service to use
their SMTP servers.

I've done a complete search and did not turn up any files
with an .srs. I did a detect and repair and still didn't
find any. I've also reinstalled Office twice... Any
additional help would be terrific. Pierce

srs is hidden here:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

search for fixmapi.exe and run it.
