email recipient not typed by sender

When addressing an email, if the sender inadvertently
types a special character after a ; after a recipient's
name, it resolves that special character to my name and I
receive the email.
Any idea what might be causing this?

Outlook XP SP2
Exchange Server 2000

When I first started receiving these messages I thought
that someone just picked my name by mistake but after
about the 5th time it happened I figured something must be
up. We finally figured out it was the special character.

Examples? I don't know what you mean by a special character. Is this
happening with one sender or all?

Very curious. I can't duplicate the problem. If you create a message on your
machine and click the Check Names button, what happens to the extra
character?
