we have a small w2k DC using microsft mail and Outlook 97 (yes, I know, but
it's free and it works fine) for in house email, small 10 client country
club offices. We now have cable internet setup, router etc. We use Outlook
express for internet mail. Is it best to keep them seperate like that? Or is
the norm to use one? I guess if we had MS exchange that would do it, but
they won't spend the money now
Thanks for any suggestions,
GRCC

Hi GRCC

It is certainly not best if u do not have a firewall and DMZ zone as ur running a very high risk of attacks from internet. If u have a spare PC with 2 NICs,install FreeBSD 5.x, download a free firewall and setup a DMZ by connecting on NIC to a router which is connected to ur internal LAN and one NIC to a router in DMZ. Also u'll need an antivirus email gateway protection that is preferably sits in the DMZ

Regards
Routie.
