I recieved an email from microsoft with an attatchment
suggesting i download this patch "Cumulative Patch".
The attatchment is "update32.exe (104kb).
Microsoft has never sent me emails like this before
especially to my personal (non hotmail account).
Can anyone tell me if this email and attatchment is
genuine ? the email address it came from
was "(e-mail address removed)"
Thanking yous in advance.

Sonia,

Microsoft *never* sends patches or fixes as attachments to emails - Never!
In fact, the attachments are virus- and worm-infected. Delete these emails
immediately.

I received several of this yesterday and 19 more today! I just wrote the
group about it also because of the same suspicion.
Of course, after I had done that, I checked the properties and found that
they came from various senders, including Switzerland, Italy, The
Netherlands, and various US senders.
I was wondering, if they do contain a virus, why wouldn't Norton have picked
it up as it had done in the past?
