email on iphone using gmail or a POP3 email

Hello.

I am about to buy new cell phones from Verizon.

iPhones look good and seem to do what I want, BUT I am using POP3 email from newwave.

I use email a lot and have Outlook Express designed with a lot of different folders, like Money, Health, Vendors, etc, with sub categories under each of those and several others.

I also have an inactive gmail account. I would just use gmail entirely on my laptop and whatever new cell phone I choose, but I cannot identify any way to add the folders as described above to gmail.

Also, I cannot use newwave/OE through the internet and see my added folders.

Gmail doesn't use folders. Well they do, but they call them labels, just to help with the confusion.

Thanks for the response.
I figured out the label thing and how to add labels to help manage gmail.
Now I have another question...Can one make mailing lists or whatever for group mailings by gmail???????????
I have changed email accounts a few times over the past 15 years or so, and want to do this right since it is such a pain.
