Email number does not go to Zero

Does anyone know why the email number would not go to zero
when the inbox is cleaned out - one of my clients always
shows 48 emails in his inbox - but there are none in view
and we can't determine where they might be hiding.
 
I would check and make sure he doesn't have his view filtered (i.e., it's
set to show all messages), and if not close Outlook and open outlook from
Start>Run outlook.exe /resetfolders
 
We did check his views and that is not the problem -
thanks for the info
we will try the Start Run command you suggest - is there a
possibility that there are emails that he is not seeing
though - that is what he is worried about.

That's why I would check the view and make sure he has it set to all. If he
does, then it's likely just a messed up folder and the resetfolders switch
should solve it.
